Project Spotlight: Georgian Restoration in Woolton

·5 min read

When the owners of a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse in Woolton Village approached us, the brief was clear: replace ageing timber windows and a deteriorating front door without compromising the property's historic character. The project required close liaison with Liverpool City Council's conservation officer, careful colour matching and bespoke manufacturing to replicate the original glazing bar profiles.

We specified Reynaers MasterLine 8 windows in a heritage flush casement configuration, finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey with a white interior to maintain the period feel from inside. The front entrance was replaced with a bespoke RK Door Systems entrance door featuring a solid oak core, multi-point locking and a hand-applied paint finish matched to the original colour discovered during stripping. Planning approval was secured within six weeks.

The result is a property that looks authentically Georgian from the street while benefiting from triple-glazed, thermally broken aluminium throughout — reducing heat loss by over 40 per cent compared to the original single-glazed timber frames. The homeowners have reported a noticeable improvement in comfort and a significant reduction in their energy bills.
